After a year full of fear and uncertainty, during which we’ve all suffered from a lack of interesting social and artistic events, things are looking brighter in Timisoara. We are now a bit freer and can start enjoying the events we’ve missed so much. When it comes to listening to live jazz in Timisoara, it can get no better than JazzTM 2021. Our beloved jazz festival is back between July 2nd and 4th in Liberty Square. 

Access to JazzTM 2021

Access to the eighth edition of JazzTM will be based on a free ticket within the available number of seats. JazzTM 2021 will take place within the current legal restrictions. Participation is allowed only for people who have been vaccinated (who have a minimum of 10 days after completing the full vaccination scheme), or people who can show a negative result of an RT-PCR or antigen test, no older than 72 hours. Wynton Marsalis

Wynton Marsalis is the manager and artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center. Born in New Orleans in 1961, Wynton Marsalis began his classical trumpet training at 12. He got into Juilliard School at 17.  then was joined by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. Since his debut in, he has recorded over 70 albums of music classical, and jazz and has received nine Grammys (and 33 nominations).


Jazz at Lincoln Center

The mission of Jazz at Lincoln Center is to enrich and to expand a global jazz community through performances and education. Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra includes 15 of the top jazz soloists. The Orchestra has been a resident of the Lincoln Center since 1988. 


Ibrahim Maalouf – Some Melodies 

Born in 1980 in Beirut, trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf is one of the most popular performers on the French stage of the day. In November 2020, Ibrahim celebrated his 40-year career by launching his album titled “40 melodies”.



Two times Grammy winner and leader of Snarky Puppy, Michael League, together with Chris McQueen and Bob Lanzetti (members of Snarky Puppy), legendary percussionist Jamey Haddad (Paul Simon, Sting), virtuoso guitarist Roosevelt Collier (Lee Boys, Karl Denson), percussionists André Ferrari (Vasen) and Keita Ogawa (Banda Magda, Yo-Yo Ma) have united to create a supergroup that is diverse, full of groove and musicality: Bokante.


Adi Stoenescu Group

Adi Stoenescu Group is the name under which the pianist Adi Stoenescu is exploring, together with his fellow musicians, the varied landscape of contemporary jazz. Dynamic in style and structure, the project has an acoustic shape, blending piano and contrabass, but also electronic elements.


Marta Popovici & On The Fly 

Marta Popovici is one of the most promising voices of the new generation in the current jazz scene of Romania. This jazz project that started in 2018, On The Fly, is expressive of the young local generation, combining traditional jazz with modern sounds of soul, R&B, neo-soul, trip-hop. In 2021 Martha Popovici will launch her first author album, together with On The Fly.


7th Sense

Inspired by the jazz scene in the UK, the five 7th Sense members have created a formula in which they experience a fusion of styles, with the desire for each of them to leave their mark on the music they create together. Their repertoire consists only of their own compositions, proposing a modern and fresh sound.


JazzTM 2021 is a co-production of the Timișoara City Hall and PLAI. It is supported by Unicredit, Profi, and Mercedes-Benz.
